American Slavery: It’s Demographics New Book With Statistics

Why study history? Among other things: it provides grounding on which to build ideas. Here’s a statistic you may not know: Of those captured in Africa who became victims of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, fewer than 4% ended up in North America. Most were taken to South America, Mexico, or the Caribbean Islands, say David Eltis and David Richardson in their Atlas of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, a book that catalogs 35,000 voyages, or 80 percent of the total estimated trips.
